Beliefs

Mission

  • Because of Jesus, we seek the lost, embrace the hurting, equip the saved, and celebrate God’s grace.

Core Values

  • God longs to develop a deeper relationship with us.  The church fosters a nurturing environment, primarily through prayer.
  • The church brings worshipers together to praise God’s name and to be changed.
  • Vibrant life flows from the hearts of the younger, wisdom flows from the spiritual maturity of the older.
  • Every Christian is gifted by God and has a story to tell.  The church provides an environment for our gifts to be identified, developed, and used, while our stories are enriched and shared, all to the glory of God.
  • Small groups foster authenticity, vulnerability, trust, belonging, and accountability.  While they are practical, small groups also promote personal spiritual growth.
  • The church is the living body of Christ – changing, growing, adapting – for the purpose of being relevant in an ever-changing culture with the never-changing message of Jesus.

Core Beliefs

  • God is our creator.
  • Jesus is God’s Son.
  • The Bible is God’s flawless message to us.
  • Every person deserves to die because of their sinfulness but Jesus offers every person a way to be rescued through His own death and resurrection.
  • Every believer has a common experience of being baptized into Jesus and being gifted with the Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus’ church is designed to be a community for Christians and a Christian resource to serve others.

Who We Are

  • Southside is an autonomous, unaffiliated church which has a heritage in the Restoration movement and is rooted in the New Testament church.
  • The church’s governing authority lies with the elders (shepherds) who are duly appointed by the congregation.  Issues about how the mission statement should be applied in the context of the activities and conduct of the church are determined by the elders.
  • Membership is open to immersed believers in Jesus Christ who express a desire to work and worship with us under the oversight of its elders
